An average 10-truck carrier, over the next ten years. This is the math.
Assumptions: $15,000/yr average premium per truck (small fleets run $10–20K) · premiums escalating 8.3%/yr, their actual path 2017–2025 · 15% telematics cut · a used Class 8 ≈ $65,000. Want to run your own numbers? Open the full calculator.

Premium reduction
Fleets running cameras and telematics can qualify for lower commercial auto premiums — and because your premium climbs every year, so does the discount. Adjust the numbers to match your operation.
Put the monthly difference into a broad index fund instead of leaving it in the operating account. The lower line is your own money going in — it curves upward because your premium does. Everything above it is what the market did with it.
Louisiana is one of the most expensive states in the country to insure a truck, and it isn't because the roads are worse. It's the courtroom. Underwriters price that in — which is also why they pay attention when you can hand them video and telematics data.
Insurance: estimates only, not a quote. Carriers set their own credits — discounts for cameras and shared telematics data commonly land between 5% and 20%, depending on loss history, fleet profile, and whether you share data with your underwriter. Dash GPS installs and services the equipment; your carrier sets your rate.
Gross, not net: these figures show premium savings only. They do not subtract the cost of hardware, installation, or any monthly service plan, and they don't account for replacing equipment at end of life. Ask us for a net figure on your actual fleet.
Fleet growth: the "If you grow" view ramps your fleet in a straight line from today's count to your target and scales the premium with it. It's a scenario, not a forecast — trucking is cyclical and fleets shrink as well as grow. Note that adding trucks raises your equipment cost too, so the return per truck stays roughly the same either way. The per-unit figure below the readout is the one that doesn't move.
Premium increases: the model compounds your premium at a constant rate. Trucking insurance rose an average of 8.3% a year between 2017 and 2025, but no rate holds steady for two decades — over longer horizons treat this as direction, not forecast.
Investment: illustration only, not financial advice. The S&P 500 has averaged roughly 10% a year over the long run with dividends reinvested, but it almost never returns its average in any given year. Figures assume steady returns and ignore taxes, fees, and inflation. Past performance doesn't predict future results.
